TAI CHI & CHI KUNG
TAI CHI
Tai Chi is an Ancient system of exercise, consisting of a series of precise flowing movements known as 'the form', easy to learn but takes a lifetime to perfect. It is along this journey of learning where the many benefits from practising the Art of Tai Chi are gained. The most easily demonstrated benefits are the physical ones, with improvements in balance, co-ordination, muscle and joint strength plus increased flexibility. Other aspects of Tai Chi are taught alongside the form e.g. Chi Kung.
CHI KUNG
Chi Kung is from the same ancient roots as Tai Chi, with the emphasis upon relaxation and the development of internal energy, through the practice of co-ordinated movements and deep breathing the purpose is to help to maintain physical and mental well being. Regular practitioners of Tai Chi and Chi Kung claim increased energy, self confidence and concentration.
There is increasing researched evidence to help us to understand why the practise of these arts may help with:
* The self management of anxiety and depression.
* Reduction in blood pressure.
